I Left My Heart....

...in San Francisco. We went back last month and attempted to retrieve it.
No such luck :)

Day 1: We dropped off the kids with my mom, drove to Cali, and went to the beach.
Day 2: San Francisco.
This included Alcatraz (with a nice view of the Golden Gate Bridge)...
...the coolest-ever little shops (Nate LOVED the shopping portion of SF :)...
...a cable car ride...
...China town...
... the Legion of Honor Museum...
...and (on the way home) the best restaurant on the face of the planet:
Caffe Riace.
Day 3: Drove down Highway 1 to Monterey Bay.
This included the Monterey Bay Aquarium...
...at which they had the coolest jellyfish exhibit (my favorite)...
...some sea turtles (Nate's favorite)...
...an awesome view of the ocean...
...(where Nate officially decided he was done getting his picture taken voluntarily)...
  ...a seahorse exhibit...
 ...a prickly dude...
...some sea dragons (pretty, but also pretty freaky)...
 ...this little bright red guy...
...and generally just lots of pretty things for me to take pictures of. It was the best aquarium I've ever been to.
Also in Monterey was a LOT of sunshine, which makes me ever-so happy
(outdoor restaurant for lunch on a sunny day = my own personal version of an antidepressant)...
...this cool candy store (which unfortunately does NOT have Twerpz - I think this means we'll have to officially abandon the search - sad day)...
Day 4: Menlo Park (sniffle).
In uploading these pictures, I realize that most of Day 4 was centered around food.
We went to Stacks for breakfast...
...then to visit the place where we used to live (yes, we're serious dorks)...
...then we walked the Dish, so we could be hungry for...
...The Counter...
...where they serve the best burgers ever...
 ...and Sprinkles...
...where Nate convinced me that we should buy a full dozen of these babies...
...which would be impossible to eat without milk, so we stopped at Safeway...
...then we spent the rest of the day at the beach listening to our John Carter audiobook and wondering why we don't live here.
Day 5: Drove home and picked up the babies.
... and then we remembered why we don't live there. Because to house the 4 or 5 kids we want to eventually have, we'd need to be millionaires. Oh well. We can just visit. Next time we might even take them with :)

Yes. Housing and food is expensive in California. The jellyfish are my favorite too. :)
You seem like you had so much fun! We miss you guys.

Love it! Sounds like you guys had a blast. I'm pretty jealous... it seems like we always use our vacation time to visit Utah. haha. Someday we'll go somewhere sweet like San Francisco... :)
